Construction - Heavy Civil Estimator / Project Manager

Seeking an Estimator/Project Manager, a specialized contractor working in earthwork, foundations, demolition and utilities. 
Primary Function:
Provide and/or coordinate full estimating and project management services on projects ranging in size and complexity, and provide overall project management direction for multiple heavy civil projects. Also develop new business opportunities relative to a Client, group of Clients or geographical area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide Manage project administration, planning, installation and reporting for small or larger more complex projects. Manage assigned projects as economically as possible while recognizing a company commitment to safety, quality workmanship, positive industry image and customer satisfaction. 
  • Prepare, processing and maintaining all files, correspondence, schedules, reports, and billing, necessary to perform the responsibilities of the contract.
  • Responsible for purchasing, field engineering, subcontracting and overall project execution. 
  • Coordinate and oversee vendors, subcontractors, and schedule construction activities, including material procurement for construction. 
  • Track project development and productivity, creating work in progress reports, budgets, and create schedules for field installation. 
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility, and prepare pricing proposals to clients/owners.

Additional duties may include the following: 
  • Develop detailed cost estimates from the engineering drawings; proactively identify deficiencies and/or questions; and actively assist the project team toward providing solutions to field changes.
  • Prepares estimates by applying unit rates for man hours, labor dollars, material pricing, construction equipment costs, and all-in unit cost determination, calculating extensions and the application of standard factors, overhead rates and project mark-up.
  • Provides coordination and liaison with project management and project engineering personnel throughout the estimate development.
  • Trains subordinate estimating personnel when necessary.
Basic Qualifications :
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or Business.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience preparing cost estimates using a variety of estimating tools, and software applications including Excel spreadsheets, Sage 100, Agtek, Bid 2 Win estimating software, and Bluebeam.
  • 5 years’ experience.
  • Team player with a great attitude that can handle challenging projects/tasks.
