Geo-technical Engineer

Seeking a highly motivated Geo-Technical Engineer for employment in our new Scottsdale, AZ office.

This position will involve working with a multidisciplinary team of civil engineers, geo-technical engineers, environmental engineers, and geologists all of which work together to conceive, permit, design and construct numerous projects.

Specific Duties
Provide geo-technical engineering and design support.
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. (Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.)
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
Perform geo-technical analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and post-tensioned slabs.
Conduct field explorations, collect samples, analyze data and review geo-technical samples for laboratory testing.
Work under supervision of a senior project manager or senior level team member.
Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.
Perform marketing and business development activities to develop new clients.
Maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
Ability to manage others to complete project tasks correctly and in a timely manner.
Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes as needed.
Provide technical mentoring to internal staff.
Contribute to geo-technical and corporate management activities and business decisions.
Lead in-the-field effort on site reconnaissance, geo-technical drilling, geo-technical profiling, geo-technical instrumentation, construction Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities for design and construction of foundations, and/or other infrastructure.
Lead design and construction projects related to Geo-technical data collection, analysis, and design.
Lead lower level Engineers and Contractors for Geo-technical project delivery.
Proactively seek improvements to the safe geo-technical construction and operation of residential homes, high-rise structures, storage facilities, resorts, storm water ponds, etc.
Assist with the development, maintenance and implementations of strategic plans to enhance the geo-technical department.
Communicate accurate, timely and relevant Geotechnical information to operational management team and staff

Minimum Requirements
MS in Civil Engineering specializing in geotechnical engineering.
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related Engineering discipline from an accredited curriculum, with courses in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineeringandfive (5) years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
Knowledge in the principles and practices of Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering.
5+ years of experience with expansive soils, shallow and deep foundations, design of retaining walls, soil laboratory testing, and field experience related to earthwork activities and construction.
3+ years of experience conducting field explorations, collecting samples, analyzing date and writing geotechnical reports.
Arizona PE license (or able to obtain within 3 months).
Experience working with a multidisciplinary team of civil engineers, geotechnical engineers and environmental engineers.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills including technical writing.
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software.
Strong work ethic (especially in stressful situations).
Arizona valid driver’s license.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety of yourself and others.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Geotechnical engineering
At least 5 years of work experience in geotechnical engineering
Proficiency in using geotechnical software
Demonstrate technical competence through design and/or operations experience in at least one of the followingwork areas: residential development, high-rise structures, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability analysis.
Field experience in construction monitoring and quality assurance.
Field experience in geotechnical site explorations, soil characterization, interpretation of geotechnical lab tests, and engineering analysis.Experience using Geotechnical software.
Experience reviewing and editing geotechnical engineering reports and documents for a variety of applications.
Excellent organizational skills.Criteria/Conditions
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity.
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday

Job Type:
Full-time  Salary: $65,000.00 to $100,000.00 /year Official salary offer will be based on relevant knowledge and experience of the applicant
